Thank you to those who submitted feedback on the W.I.S.E. Aging Initiative draft recommendations. We collected dozens of responses from older Utahns, aging service providers, assisted living professionals, hospice professionals, researchers, social workers, and other engaged citizens during the recent public feedback period, which concluded on July 1, 2026.

The draft recommendations have been edited to incorporate much of the feedback that we collected over the past few weeks. The updated recommendations have been shared with the W.I.S.E. Aging Steering Committee for additional feedback and input. We anticipate releasing a final version in early fall 2026.

What is the Utah WISE Initiative?

Governor Spencer Cox is focusing on older adults this term through the Utah WISE Initiative. This initiative focuses on improving 4 pillars of aging well:  Wealth, Independence, Security, and Engagement.

WISE work groups

After completing our statewide listening tour, 4 workgroups began meeting in September 2025 to discuss strategies and recommendations for each of the 4 pillars. The feedback we received through the listening sessions and the online form informed the workgroups as they developed their recommendations. The final workgroup recommendations were used to draft the 10-year statewide multi-sector plan on aging.
